Jeff, Leah, Gradyn & Bodhi

October 15, 2016     Portraits

About 9 years ago I met Leah & Jeff at Leah's parents house in Buffalo, MN and we talked about their wedding plans. This meeting was particularly memorable because they signed my contract and wrote a check on the spot even after I asked them if they were sure they didn't want to shop around. (I was clearly very good at sales - ha!) Fast forward to 2016 and I have taken hundreds of photos of them; having had the honor to photograph their family as it has grown from 2 to 4, traveling from Minnesota to Colorado and back again. Needless to say, I am so thankful for that afternoon with them at the kitchen table in Buffalo, MN.

A couple of weeks ago they brought me back to Minnesota to document their adorable family on the most glorious fall day. It felt so good to pick up my cameras again and be fully present with a family I have so much history with and love for. It reminded me of my life before becoming a mother of (almost) 4 and it awakened me. The photos below represent my style and my love of the work. Thank you Leah & Jeff for bringing me home to remind me that I'm still a photographer and that my passion for the art will never die.

This photo shoot lit me on fire and I hope it shows.

Jeff, Leah & Gradyn

October 15, 2013     Portraits

When I photographed their wedding back in 2007 I was crossing my fingers that they would become repeat clients...little did I know that things would turn out much better than that. Leah & Jeff have become incredible friends. They are the type of people you can sit down and chat with for hours over a bottle of wine (preferably on a mountainside) and laugh until you cry while reminiscing, joking, or playing completely inappropriate card games with. :)

Leah & Jeff have always been amazing, but now, NOW, their level of awesomeness is out-of-this-world. Now, they are PARENTS and wow, they are so good at being parents. Their little man Gradyn is a perfect by-product of good people who love with every thing inside of them. He is one happy, lucky, little boy. He captured my heart the moment I met him.

I spent the weekend with this incredible little family in Winter Park, CO for their session and it was perfect in every way. Despite the snow on Friday, Saturday was heaven. This was our second time in Colorado together and I have a feeling it won't be the last. :)

Leah & Jeff - thank you just doesn't cover it. I just love photographing your family. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives & keeping me there.

Grady - You are such a trooper! Thank you for putting up with my big camera all weekend and for smiling ALL OF THE TIME. You are one amazing little man. :)

You know, just a typical day in Winter Park...

Colorado

October 3, 2008     Portraits

I am so grateful for the people I meet on this journey of mine. I met Leah and Jeff in 2007 when they booked me to be their wedding photographer. I never would have guessed that for their 1st anniversary they would be flying me out to their new home of Denver, CO to photograph them in the mountains! Talk about a dream! We have become very good friends over the past year...so good that it feels like we've known each other for decades.

Being out in Colorado photographing them again was like taking a deep breath of the purest air...for an entire weekend! It was rejuvenating, inspiring and never to be forgotten.

Leah and Jeff - thank you from the bottom of my heart! What you have is so incredibly special and I was honored to capture that once again for you in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I look forward to many more photo shoots with you and car rides with Tootsie. :)

On Saturday we headed to Estes Park where the elk were bugling and the aspens were at their peak. Being the adventurous people we are, we decided to journey off of the trail (when no one was looking of course) and climb part-way up a mountain to get closer to the aspens. It was well worth the tricky climb! :)

The aspens were so brilliant is was like shooting through a yellow filter

These 2 elk were fighting over the herd of females that were in a nearby field. They were bugling back and forth and butting heads - it was like being inside of a National Geographic magazine! Poor Leah had to hear me talk about "needing a longer lens" over and over again. :)

We then drove up to Flagstaff Mountain for the sunset. It was breathtaking!

This is Tootsie - Leah & Jeff's beloved bulldog. :)

The happy little family! Tootsie continued to crack me up all weekend - that tongue of hers is so big she has a hard time keeping it in her mouth!:)

Red Rocks

Leah and Jeff clawing their way to the summit. Whew! What a workout! (Ok, so we had to have a little fun too! :))
