Ella & Colin

October 23, 2008     Portraits

Photographing families these past few weeks have kept me on my toes and have been such a joy! This particular family holds a special place in my heart, as I first photographed Ella when she was just 1-year old! Just when I didn't think this family could get any cuter, along came 3-month old Colin. I think you'll agree - he's a heartbreaker!
Thank you April, Nick, Ella and Colin - it was amazing photographing your family again this year!!

Charley, Luke & Jake

October 20, 2008     Portraits

One reason I love photographing kids is because most of the time, they create quite the challenge for me...and I love a good challenge! :) Photographing one kid is tricky, three or more, well that's an entirely different story! Charley, Luke and Jake are repeat customers, so they knew it would be mostly playing rather than sitting and posing for a photo. It was a ton of fun to photograph these little ones again.

This was the first photo taken, so I was thinking they might be easy on me. :)

Grace & Noah

October 17, 2008     Portraits

Fall always brings an influx of family shoots and I absolutely love photographing the same families year after year. This is the 3rd year photographing Josh, Tiffany, Grace and Noah and we had a blast together at the park the other day! Grace and Noah had me laughing the entire time...you'll see why. :)

Handsome little Noah

Missy & Greg

October 13, 2008     Weddings

This weekend I had the privilege to photograph a beautiful wedding at Black Swan near Kalamazoo, MI. Just last year (7-7-07 to be exact) I photographed the bride's sister's wedding and I was so excited to work with the family again! Everything went perfectly...and I'm not exaggerating! The outdoor ceremony overlooking the glass-like lake was absolutely gorgeous and at the time we did the majority of the photos, the light was to die for!!

A huge thank you to Missy & Greg (and Wally!) for bringing us out to Michigan to capture your day! It was a complete honor to be a part of...thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

The flowers by Dorothy's Floral Studio were amazing!

Hannah, one of the flowergirls, will most likely be a photographer someday. She was very interested in my camera! :)

The ceremony

Missy and Greg are perfect for each other...

Eric was the associate photographer this weekend and I just love this photo he captured with the fall colors

The light was delicious! :)

My two happy couples! :) I photographed Blaise & Jenny's wedding on 7-7-07!

I've been tagged

October 12, 2008     Personal

My wonderful Australian photographer friend, Cathy Crawley of Beautiful Moments Photography has tagged me in a game photographers like to play on each other's blogs. She tagged me once before many months ago, so I'm thinking I better participate this time! :)

On with the game!

4 things I did today:

1. Drove 2 hours from Kalamazoo, MI to Detroit with my husband Eric
2. Flew from Detroit back home to Minneapolis (again, with my husband:))
3. Downloaded my photos from this weekend's wedding (watch for the upcoming blog post!)
4. Went grocery shopping at Super Target (and for the record, I REALLY don't like grocery shopping!)

4 things on my to-do list:

1. Go skiing in British Columbia (and this might just get crossed off the list in January!)
2. Venture back into the Boundary Waters and camp on the same island where Eric proposed
3. Drink a really good glass of red wine in Italy
4. Photograph grizzly bears and fish for salmon in Alaska

4 of my guiltiest pleasures

1. Blue corn tortilla chips with salsa
2. Drooling over and sometimes purchasing things from Midwest Mountaineering and/or REI
3. At the moment, I could live off of Jimmy John's Turkey Tom sandwich :)
4. Anything Canon!

4 random facts about me

1. I have a travel bug that never stops itching! (this year alone I have traveled to 2 different countries and 6 states)
2. I used to be a photographer and reporter for a daily newspaper
3. I went sky diving and bungy jumping in New Zealand
4. I am addicted to reading about mountain climbing adventures

Here are the 4 photographers that I am tagging! Ron, Eliesa, Phillip, and Cathy & David - YOU ARE IT!
