White Out

January 29, 2009     Personal

Today was another extraordinary day here in Whistler with conditions like I've never seen before. We started the day out by heading to the summit and we were welcomed with complete white-out conditions. It was an interesting challenge to say the least. :) We then ended the day with the famous Peak-to-Creek run that is 3.4-miles long! (It is the longest, most scenic, and most varied intermediate run in all of North America) It took about 1-hour to ski down and the Kokanee at the bottom couldn't have tasted better. :)

This was a little tea house near one of the peaks.

A day in the clouds

January 28, 2009     Personal

Each day here in Whistler, I'm amazed a little more...

We woke up this morning to fresh snow (or "pow-pow" as many like to say):) and skied amongst the clouds. It was UNREAL! We started out the day by skiing the black diamond that will be the Men's Super G in the 2010 Olympics. I'm no Bode Miller, but I couldn't help but visualize myself as an Olympian on that run. :) The tricky part was that most of the run was in the clouds, so seeing even 10 feet in front of you was next to impossible. It sure made for a thrilling run though!

Whistler has also become famous for its new Peak-to-Peak gondola that stretches about 2.7 miles and suspends 1,427 feet above the valley, connecting Whistler Mountain to Blackcomb. When it first opened in December, sky-divers jumped from it! Riding it today was, well, crazy cool. :)

Without further adieu, here are some of the sights from today...

Whistler

January 26, 2009     Personal

We made it to Whistler/Blackcomb and it is unbelievable! We flew into Seattle and drove through the British Columbia border, onto Vancouver and up the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler. I may just have to live here someday ... or at least make it an annual tradition to visit. :) I have had the good fortune to ski at a lot of amazing places across North America but there is just something special about this place. The Creekside Village is quaint, the food is amazing, the skiing is wonderful and the mountains are HUGE. For those of you who know about skiing - the green runs are like blues and blues are similar to black runs in the U.S. I was able to ski the Women's Downhill Olympic run yesterday and managed to escape without a body cast. :) (Whistler is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics) Here are a couple pictures from the day...enjoy.

Another Canadian Adventure!

January 23, 2009     Personal

I am leaving on another week-long Canadian adventure on Saturday morning and I am already excited to share the photos with you! (even though they have yet to be taken!):) I will be spending the majority of the time in the mountains skiing (and photographing) at Whistler/Blackcomb in British Columbia.

To my clients - I will be responding to emails daily as well as checking voicemails, however I will have limited phone access. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

Be sure to check back often! :)

"We have chosen hope"

January 20, 2009     Personal

What a historic day it is!! Happy Inauguration Day America! I ran across this quote the other day and thought it was appropriate for today:

"Those who have changed the universe have never done it by changing officials, but always by inspiring the people." - Napoleon Bonaparte
