Welcome and thank you for stopping by! My name is Erika and I'm a photographer who is living her dream! As you will see through my photographs, I am constantly focused on capturing real, natural moments and creating timeless images that make you feel something - have it be tears, joy, laughter or even if it simply brings a smile to your face. My ultimate goal is to create images that speak to your soul.
This blog is dedicated to my photography and life - both on a professional and personal level. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts and viewing the photos. Getting Ready!
July 21, 2008 Engagements
First of all, I must apologize for my lack of posts lately! This is officially the "calm before the storm" and gearing up for the many weddings to come has me focused on schedules, gear maintenance and to be honest, taking deep, relaxed breaths while I can! :) I am EXTREMELY excited about photographing all of the amazing weddings I have packed into July through October and I'm already looking forward to sharing them with you!
(SIDE NOTE: The wedding season is always very interesting and the popular wedding dates are constantly changing. For instance, last year I was booked solid in the spring and fall with weddings mainly in MN and now this year the end of summer and early fall are jammed packed with weddings both in Minneapolis, Chicago and Michigan.)
To celebrate the full-on wedding season kick-off, this weekend Eric and I snuck away up north for a bit of "relaxation". We ended up taking full advantage of the sun and calm waters and water skied until we just couldn't ski anymore. Needless to say, we are both feeling it today...but it was so worth it!
On another note, I just finished up Kate & Tim's engagement slideshow and thought I'd share it with you all. Some of my clients have been asking what exactly the engagement slideshow is, so here's a little sample! Enjoy! :)

Karel Magne has arrived!
July 15, 2008 Portraits
Just a few days ago my roommate from college and her husband welcomed their new little baby boy into the world. I had to opportunity to meet Karel just 24 hours after he was born and seeing my friends as parents was quite an amazing experience! How did we get from chatting for hours on end from our dorm-room bunk beds to adulthood, and most importantly, to you becoming parents!? Watching my friends become moms and dads is almost breathtaking and I'm loving the joy these little bundles are bringing to our world!!

Matt, Shelly & Dane
July 12, 2008 Portraits
This morning was the most fabulous morning! I had the privilege to photograph the sweetest little family and I truly loved every second of it! I just can't get over how loving and wonderful they are...and 15-month-old Dane is just a peanut! :) Matt planned the shoot on their 5-year wedding anniversary and he even had a little surprise up his sleeve for his beautiful wife, Shelly (see below)...

Kate & Tim
July 11, 2008 Engagements
Happy 4th anniversary Kate & Tim! These two are incredible and have such a neat story - they grew up living across the street from one another! It all started in 3rd grade when they became "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" (how adorable is that!?) Then, many years later they reunited and well, we all know where the story goes from there! Their 4th anniversary of dating was on Wednesday when we did their engagement session. I'm so anxious to photograph their wedding in September! I can't wait! :)
I am officially in love with the summer sun!
